Comedian Katherine Ryan is known not only for her quick wit, but her glamorous outfits, too. And when she’s not dressed to the nines in feathers or sequins, the 41-year-old is partial to a cosy piece of knitwear – with one of her most recent backstage outfits being perfect for the upcoming spring season.

The mum-of-three filmed a get ready with me style video while backstage on her tour and shared it to Instagram over the weekend. In it, the 8 out of 10 Cats panellist sported a lilac, chunky knit cardigan from British independent label, Cara and the Sky.

The ultimate transitional piece to take you from crisp mornings to sunnier afternoons, Katherine wore the brand’s Gemma Basket Stitch Balloon Sleeve Cardigan, which costs £79 at online stockist, Wolf and Badger. Commenting on the video, her followers shared their love for her cosy-yet-chic knit, writing: “I love your cardigan!” and “Looking amazing as always.”

The brand, founded in 2019, is known for their vibrant designs that you can pull out of your wardrobe time and again. This particular knit boasts a chunky elevated cable knit and oversized silhouette, perfect for giving an effortless feel to your outfits.

Made in a soft yarn, it’ll keep you warm when the temperatures dip, while the mid length makes it a great layering piece. Fashion fans can style it with separates, or layer over dresses. You could go monochrome and style with a purple satin skirt, or contrast with a pop of orange to lean into the dopamine dressing trend.

I’ve probably got half a dozen – if not more – of their fun and playful designs, from jumpers and knitted dresses to cardigans. Now, Katherine Ryan has made a strong case for me to add the Gemma cardigan to the collection. The lilac shade is not only perfect for spring but also complements a variety of outfits, whether you’re going for a relaxed weekend look or dressing up for a brunch date.

The brand has seen a number of shoppers praise their dreamy styles, with one shopper commenting on the Gemma cardigan: “The most beautifully made cardigan, l love the colour and how versatile the cardigan is. Perfect with a T-shirt or jumper as the weather gets colder.”

At Wolf and Badger, another added: “Beautiful, soft, everything I hoped it would be and a perfect fit,” with a third commenting: “It’s a beautiful design, really warm and good quality – and I’ve had lots of lovely comments when I wear it.”

I usually wear a 10-12 and am very tall, the small size is fine for me and still nice and roomy.”

On the high street, Next has plenty of unmissable knitwear launches. We love the Red Pink Stripe High Neck Textured Knitted Jumper with Wool, which comes in at £37. The cosy and stylish textured knit jumper features a high neck and long sleeves to keep you snug, while the relaxed fit is perfect for casual days all season long.

At Oliver Bonas, this Pink & Green Wavy Stripe Knitted Cardigan costs £65. It has a cute fluffy finish in shades of green, pink and blue in a wavy stripe pattern, complete with pink ribbed trims and matching buttons.

Urban Outfitters’ Dakota Stripe Knit Cardigan costs £42 and comes in a pink-purple and rust orange colour. Or if simple stripes are more your thing, Uniqlo’s Souffle Yarn V Neck Short Cardigan is on sale for £19.90, here.
